If you are looking for a good day out, especially after the pandemic kept us in for such a long while, a good choice would be to visit the Great Yorkshire Show.
The show, spanning four days from Tuesday 12 to Friday 15 July 2022, is one of the biggest outdoor events in the UK focusing on agriculture, food, farming and the countryside. There are a host of competitions in the arenas with Sheep Dog trials coming to the show for the first time this year.
The Great Yorkshire Show also features hundreds of stands where you can buy food, handcrafted goods, clothes and a range of giftware. The garden area is also worth a visit and children will especially like the huge range of animals competing in competitions, shows and activities.
On Tuesday 12th July, The Princess Royal will be attending as will many celebrities and well known people throughout the event. This year Channel 5 will be filming so you could be seen on TV!
The new GYS Stage is bound to be another must see. Each day, a well known celebrity will appear including: Countryfile presenter Adam Henson, JB Gill – pop star turned farmer, TV host Matt Baker and Shepherdess Amanda Owen. The Yorkshire Vet – Peter Wright – will also be on stage each day at 1:30.

Reviews by Visitors to the Great Yorkshire Show
This year’s show should be even better with new competitions, more stands, more animals and lots more to do.
The one thing the organisers of the Great Yorkshire Show picked up from visitor comments was that there was a demand for better maps as the show is so big. That’s why, this year, you can find a fully digital map of the Great Yorkshire Show by downloading it to your smartphone.
